December 16, 2010 08:12 PM | Location: CA Response: Anne Frank was a very determined person. She was a very courageous girl to live in one room for two to three straight years. Anne was also a passionate writer, which she realized very quickly. Anne, with all the fights among the people in hiding, still valued all of them. You could even say they were friends. The story of Anne Frank, however, is also reflective of millions of Jews at the time, and she was more fortunate than a lot of them. Many Jews were caught immediately and sent to concentration camps.
Anne Frank was a very moving story. It described in detail the lives of all the Jews living in hiding. Also, although the book is just a diary, it tells the story like a book. I wish I could tell Anne how brave she was during that part of her life. She developed a maturity very early that no one today could have done. This was all due to the circumstances of her life. I felt so sorry for all the people in hiding after they were caught. The hope that they would be free was quickly squashed, like a brightly burning candle that goes out in a puff of air. Anne Frank certainly gave me a new perspective on my life. We are lucky to have peaceful, happy lives. |

December 16, 2010 08:09 PM | Location: Cupertino, CA Response: I am awed by how Anne managed to still be quite optimistic during those horrible years of hardship. Her story gives me more insight of the Holocaust and makes me think and appreciate actually how fortunate I am... When our class watched the movie that shows Anne and her sister in Bergen-Belsen, I felt disgusted at how everybody was being treated. It was so sad to see that Anne did not make it, and so close to liberation! |

December 16, 2010 07:58 PM | Location: Cupertino, CA Response: I think that this book was a really touching book. It showed me that life isn't to be taken like it is joke. Life is a serious thing. Why was Hitler cruel to the Jewish? I don't understand that. Anne would have been a great journalist if she lived through it all. I have never heard of Anne Frank before but now that I have, it will stick in my memory forever and everyone else that learns about her. Her story will be passed on forever and that everyone will know of the story of Anne Frank. |

December 16, 2010 07:48 PM | Location: Cupertino, CA Response: The story of Anne Frank was extremely moving. I know I could not have been in her situation and not gone crazy. It's very sad that everyone except Mr. Frank died after all of the hardships they had to endure for years. Her journal will keep something like the Holocaust from happening again. |

It was extreamly sad when they were found in the end and had to go to the camps. I admire Anne for being optomistic when they hiding for the two years. December 16, 2010 07:34 PM | Location: CA Response: I was so moved by Anne Frank's story. I don't know if I would have to courage and strength to pull through the horrific times as she did. First reading her diary and feeling how she was just a normal teenage girl...wanting to lead a normal life, and how society was back then, took that from her. The simple things all ordinary people should be able to enjoy was taken away from so many, and for what?- because they were jewish? Such a waste of a life, of many lives. Then i saw two of the movies and that was a very intense thing to see and watch, I can't remember how many times I cringed in my chair...what happened was horrible and i don't know if the world can ever even begin to be forgiven of what we put ourselves and others through. |

Response: When I read this book i nearly cried. I found it so hard to believe that any person would be so bad at heart to do this. What I still want to know was why Hitler commited suicide? This story had touched me, and i feel ashamed that there are still people today that are racist to others. Also i wish that there was something i could do to help all those Jews. |

December 16, 2010 07:05 PM | Location: CALI Response: The Diary of Anne Frank is a very intense and descriptive written account of what life was like for a group of Jews while they were hiding from the Nazis. The main character, Anne Frank, didn’t enjoy many aspects of her world during World War II. However, I believe that there are quite a few characteristics of today’s world that would please Anne. To begin, we don’t have many religious or racial boundaries today. We have the freedom to be who we are, and no one can change us. Anne would also be ecstatic that the Holocaust has ended, and that Jews can freely practice their religion all around the world! Finally, Anne would be glad that her diary was published, and now people everywhere are developing awareness about the horrors of Holocaust through her eyes. I have been very moved from reading Anne’s diary, and I hope that such an event will never happen again. |

December 16, 2010 07:04 PM | Location: Cupertino, California Response: We have been reading about Anne Frank in class for the past few weeks. I really think that the story of Anne is a very sad but touching story that should be remembered and treasured forever. I found it sad because in the end, everyone except Mr. Frank dies in some way or the other. I really believe that even though life does not usually end like a fairytale, Anne and the others should have survived the Holocaust. This is because they were innocent beings caught in the devilish doings of an insane person. Anne's story is touching because everyone really tried to stay together and alive until the very end. They are all also very courageous and brave. I must say that Anne is an amazing writer who actually captures the situation in words so that the reader can travel back in time and experience Anne's life once again. If I could tell Anne one thing, it would be that no matter what, I will treasure her story and always try to be like her. |

December 16, 2010 06:38 PM | Location: Cupertino Response: The most important lesson I have learned from Anne Franks diary is when times are tough the human spirit can overcome difficult circumstances. Anne was always so lively and her spirit affected everyone around her. I'm going to aim to be as positive as Anne because I know how a negative attitude can bring everyone down. |
