After I read the Diary of Anne Frank I saw how this wonderful book helped save the lives of those 150 "unteachable, at risk" students. I cannot even imagine how hard it would have been to hide in that attic for two years! It must have been so boring! I can't believe she dies |

December 16, 2010 06:00 PM | Location: San Jose, CA Response: I have heard about Anne frank in the past before reading this book and watching the movie. At first i didn't know what to think after reading the book. I didn't expect that they would get caught. It must have been torture hiding up in that basement for that much time, not being able to play or even talk. It must have been pure hell in the concentration camps too. |

After reading your diary I have learned a lot more about the holocaust, and what life during the holocaust was like. I can't believe you all, survived in such harsh conditions, for such a long time. You were a great writer, and your diary is truly inspirational. I feel really sorry that you, your family, and your friends had to live during such bad times. |

December 16, 2010 01:26 PM | Location: Cupe-Town Response: I have had such a hard time reading this story. Its a miserable experience because when ever I think of Anne, I think of all my Jewish friends being in her place and I cry. Its one of the most powerful books I've dared to read I hope and pray that people will remember this amazing, true story and never let it happen again. Anne was truly amazing and I wish I could have told her the Holocaust would be over soon-that soon there wouldn't be any more pain. I hope the Mr. Frank knows that we support him and pray for him. |

December 16, 2010 04:27 AM | Location: CA, USA Response: Right now I know A LOT about Anne Frank and the Holocaust. I asked what was the Holocaust? What did it have to do with Hitler? Why did Hitler want to kill the Jews? I had MANY questions to myself. I learned that Anne Frank went through a lot of trouble. If I was in her place, I would be very scared. Anne was very brave as she learned to live without her parents. She didn't have proper clothes, not enough shelter, and mostly barely any food! I'm glad she kept a diary with her and that she wrote about her experiences. It helps us focus more on how she really felt during this time. I think she was really brave when this event was going on during her character, she grew as her own person. I'm glad that happened. :] |

December 16, 2010 01:46 AM | Location: Cupertino, CA Response: My thoughts on Anne's diary are that she was an extraordinary girl with a passion for writing. I enjoyed every minute of this diary and i was really devastated from all the gruesome events that happened in the holocaust. Anne should be an example to all of us that there is always good people in the world like miep and mr. krahler and that we should honor the people that risk there lives to protect jewish people from the nazi's. I think Anne Frank is a legend and should never be forgotten. |

December 16, 2010 01:25 AM | Location: Cupertino Response: This story is very emotional. I am very surprised that they lived under conditions where people now would think as hopeless but they still had the hope. This story showed me that you can have hope no matter what happens, and never to give up your life it will hurt much more.It is hard to believe Anne almost the same age as me, but totally different then me because of the physical torture she is going through. This book made me realize that the world is not perfect but it has many flaws that are not visible to us but they are visible to the people who are suffering because of them. |

December 16, 2010 01:11 AM | Location: California, CA Response: Throughout all of these years, I never really understood the true meanings of the Holocaust. I used to assume that it was simply about the German's hatred towards the Jews, but later found out that's not the whole story. Thousands of other people were tortured and killed because of their subtle or vast differences. Noticing the diversity in our country today has shown me that mankind has improved after this tragic event occurred less than 70 years ago. The Diary of Anne Frank also showed me that life without everything you're used to having isn't always as bad as it sounds. Anne Frank learned to live without a lot of things in her time, and was strong enough to appreciate the little she had. |

December 16, 2010 12:50 AM | Location: California Response: Anne Frank was amazing. She had every right to be so expressive because she knew that, well, she was really the only "sane" person there. She was exhilarating, but her life in the annex and her family just weren't enough to support her needs. Hopefully, in her last few seconds of life she realized that she was lucky to have a family, and although she died young, she lived a very fulfilling life. |

December 15, 2010 11:56 PM | Location: CUPERTINO, CA Response: I felt that this book is truly one of the most heartwarming books I have ever read. It explains so much about what life was like for the Jewish during World War II. I can't imagine the ones who were caught during the war. The Nazis were inhumane. They slaughtered so many, yet felt no pity. Why? If she were alive today, she would be a stupendous journalist or writer. I actually have never heard of her before and this is my first time reading something like this. Oh the horrors of the camps. She truly is an amazing person and a firm believer in what she stands for. I am truly inspired by her and she made me open my eyes. She made me think more deeply about life and what it is like to be free. Living with a wonderful family and loving friends. She made me think how wonderful it is to enjoy life's pleasure to the fullest and to not look at life as a piece of trash. She will never be forgotten and her story will be told thousands of years from now. |
