Her positive, upbeat, personality was really great, even in the worst situations. She is a great role model to many girls around the world, and her amazing attitude is one of the many reasons people remember Anne's story. She has taught me a lot about not only the Holocaust, but about valuable life lessons I will remember my whole life. Anne was a very brave girl, and will be in my heart forever. |

December 13, 2010 07:31 PM | Location: Cupertino, California Response: Throughout my time in school, many people had talked about The Diary of Anne Frank, but I never really took the time to actually read it. Then, my Language Arts class read it together and I was shocked by how how much it influenced my life. I now take what I have for granted andtry to live life to its fullest.I noticed that Anne matured a lot fom the beginning of the book- she started out very boucy and happy, and even though she kept that joyfullness well to the end, she became much more like a lady. Also, the ending so soooooo sad! I felt so bad that after two years of hiding and thinking that they were finally going to be liberated, they were thrown into cruel concentration camps.Overall, this book was FANTASTIC! The could relate to some of the characters and the litlle details touched my heart. This is a book that I would recommend to anyone in search of a truly good read. :D |

December 13, 2010 07:10 PM | Location: Washington DC Response: I found Diary of Anne frank to be a very interesting book. It showed me how bad the Nazis were, and how scary it must have been for Jews hiding in Germany. I found it amazing how Otto Frank survived the toughest death camp by hoping to see his family again. It was sad that Anne and Margot both died in a death camp from the same disease. Also, Peter died just three days before his camp was liberated, even though he survived a death walk. I liked this book a lot, and would recommend it to anyone. |

December 13, 2010 06:40 PM | Location: California Response: When I first read "The Diary of Anne Frank" I was too young and was unable to understand it well enough. Now I understand it much better. It is about a young teenage girl that had a normal life with her parents, friends, and sister. Then everything changed when she has to go into hiding. When she was able to go play and live like a normal girl she was happy and yet when she was inside the secret annex she was happy. When I think about her life I think of how lucky I am to be living today and should be thankful for all I have, because unlike Anne we now have many things that might have been able to save her from Hitler and the concentration camp. "The Diary of Anne Frank" was really sad. It was hard to imagine how her life was in every way. Yet she was a very happy, strong, and joyful girl. Even during hard times she would be able to smile. Anne Frank was an ordinary person who has become a hero. The fact that she made a choice and left her diary behind was really smart. She will never be forgotten and will live on teaching kids about her life. |

December 13, 2010 06:33 PM | Location: California Response: I have recently read The Diary of Anne Frank as part of my school curriculum. The story showed how the Holocaust was so dreadful for so many people, Jewish and non-Jewish alike. I have seen the black and white movie of them, when they are in the Annex and the color movie about how they lived in the labor camp. It tuly touched my heart because the willpower of the two families was incredible. Living behind a wire fence with many other people who will happily take your clothes when you die is something that makes me shudder. Overall, Anne was an incredible young woman who lived too many experiences in one life. Those experiences are hiding with people who don't exactly adore you, being seperated from your family, and dying without being cared for. |

December 11, 2010 09:17 AM | Location: U.S.A Response: I look up to Anne Frank after I witnessed her thoughts and dreams. It shows that even in the darkest hour, you will find a light. I can relate to Anne's feelings. Of course not living in the Annex alone but her constant feeling of betrayal. I know how she feels when someone will shoo you about because they believe that you have nothing important to say. It's hurtful and wrong. Anne knew that, yet she kept a pretty smile and moved on with her day. That's bravery. She is not one who is too brave to cry. But one brave enough to cry in front of others. Anne lives on in beauty of everything. Goodbye Anne. “I don't think of all the misery but of the beauty that still remains.” |

December 05, 2010 12:08 PM | Location: Kent Response: For a very long time I couldn't bring myself to read her diary as it was so sad. I'm reading it now and I'm glad I am. Now I really want to visit her hidding place. I've just read A Friend Called Anne. It's also about Jacqueline (her best friend) and she has also got a amazing story. |

December 02, 2010 12:33 PM | Location: San Angelo, Texas USA Response: I read The Diary of Anne Frank as a young girl and remember how mature I thought she sounded then. Today I teach Anne Frank the play in my 8th grade English classes and we do an in-depth studey of the Holocaust first. The impact I see on these students is unmatched with any other topic that I teach. I see a look of awareness cross their faces when they see or hear stereotyping and / or bullying once we have completed the study and it gives me hope. I hoe that all schools encourage a study of this amazing book, play and topic. With genocide still occurring in parts of the world, it is sad that these discussions are not taking place in their homes but at least they are taking place somewhere. We remember Anne, we remember. |
