I received The Diary of a Young Girl for my 10th birthday in 1958. I was astonished by its beauty, horrified by the author's fate. It was how my parents first chose to expose me to the Holocaust. Since that time the lessons about yearning and passion for life have remained etched in my mind. Each time I re-read the Diary (and I have read it several times since then) I never fail to find something new in its meaning. I am reading Francine Prose's book and I can see now why this incredible story still has an impact on me - and why I'm venturing to guess it will continue to do so for as long as I'm open to learning more about what the Diary has to say to me. |

Wow. Anne would have been a great, wise author. She was a gift to her parents and the world, a treasure to her sister, and everyone must have been touched by her. May God bless her. She was unbelievably brave, in all that she experienced.I cannot tell you how hard I cried as I read her diary and watched movies and films about her life. I went to the museum last year, and I can't imagine what it would feel like to not go outside, to be trapped inside a small annex. Only Anne could have done that. Thank you, Anne, for changing my life forever. May you Rest In Peace. |

I read Diary of a Young Girl when I was 14 in 1962, about 10 years after it was published. It was my first introduction to being Jewish, to anti-Jewish feelings, and to Nazism. It took many more years after that for me to really understand what happened to more than 6 million Jews in Europe. Because I knew that she died in a concentration camp as I began the book, it was probably the first tragedy that I had ever read. Soon after that I saw the movie West Side Story when it first came out...so began my introduction to the liberation movements of the 60's that I became totally involved in. Anne was a role model for me: literary, exploring her inner life (I am now a psychotherapist), and a brave optimistic person throughout her horrendous experiences. But Anne is more than an individual person, she is a symbol of a surviving soul for all generations to come. Anne, thank you, and I love you. |

God sends special angels to us every so often. Anne was and is one of those special gifts to this earth. We humans must work to make her dream of love between all people a reality. My heart aches and tears come easily when I read her story and the new book by Mrs. F. Prose. God bless this child, whom I know like all those who suffer at the hands of others, she is at peace in heaven. |

I just can say that tears came to my eyes as far a saw the pictures, films and other materials.
Some people tries to say that it doesn't happen. Unfortunelly for all the humanhood it happened and we must learn with Anne and many others and avoid it to happen again.

When I read the book became very interesting to me that this 13 year old could write like this cause it look very sophisicated and very professional, like this normal girl could write something so good. |

wow.. thats awfull what happened to anne frank i feel lucky to not have been around at that time but at the same time i feel guilty cause like wht if i had to go in to hiding the diary led me into tears and hatred |
