December 09, 2008 05:21 PM | Location: Cupertino Response: The story of Anne Frank was an all encompassing one. I am currently in the eighth grade at Kennedy Middle School. Anne's story was one of struggle and unimaginable suffering. I feel terrible, as I would have been severely depressed if I was in her traumatizing situation. The Nazis have committed an unforgivable crime: genocide. It is something that has been hindering the evolution of humanity. I would like to see the holocaust museum and I wonder what would happen if Hitler did come to supremacy. |

December 09, 2008 05:20 PM | Location: CA Response: Anne Frank supported a cheerful mood throughout the book, even when the Green Police found the Frank's hiding place in the annex. However, dispite the mood set in the book, the real Holocaust was a lot more depressing and scary. When I watched the movie of what happened to the Frank and Van Daan family after they were discovered in the annex, it was so different from the book. I was so surprised of how the real Holocaust was like. The concentration camps were awful and terrifying and I could not believe what happened to the Jews in the camps. In the book, Anne might have been happy because she was in hiding, instead of the concenetration camps. The Diary of Anne Frank taught me of the history of the Holocaust. |

December 09, 2008 05:20 PM | Location: Cupertino, CA Response: I was very intrigued by Anne Frank's life because she was the same age as I was when she went into hiding. I have the same spunkiness as her, but I wouldn't have been able to stand being locked up in an Annex for longer than a week, much less than two years. We also watched a movie about Anne's family in the concentration camps, and it was very emotionally disturbing. I felt very moved when Anne sacrificed her food to her sister Margot because Margot was very sick. Anne and her family eventually died at the camps, and her father was the only one that survived. Anne was dead, but not forgotten. Her diary was translated into many languages, and read worldwide. |

I thought that she was a very inspirational person. she went through things that lots of people couldnt even dream of. I think that she was very brave and throughout the whole book. somehow she also stayed strong even when she was sent into the consentration camps. she also uplifted all of the people that she was around. |

December 09, 2008 05:19 PM | Location: Cupertino, California Response: I think that Anne Frank suffered unnatural hardships that no one else should ever have to face. I watched the old black and white version of the Franks, Van Daan's and Mr. Dussel. I saw the second part where Anne is sent to the concentration camps. It was a very disturbing account, as many people in my class decided not to watch it for it was so horrible. I am glad that some accounts of the Holocaust still survive, the main example is anne's diary. I am very glad that I read this wonderful account. The cruelty presented in the Holocaust is inhumane. Maybe one day Ill visit Amsterdam, and i could visit the canal, or the Annex that the Franks, van Daans, and dussel lived out two years of their lives. |

December 09, 2008 05:18 PM | Location: Cupertino, CA Response: Anne Frank was really intelligent and how she helped her family go through hiding. I thought Anne was smart to keep her feelings in her diary and say what has been going on with her and her family. It really made me sad how they treated them horribly at the camps. It was horrible. |

December 09, 2008 05:18 PM | Location: USA Response: I'm a 8th grader at Kennedy Middle school. Our class just finished reading the book and watching the movie. I thought about how sad the the story is. I always thought of World War 2 about the Nasizs. But after I read the book I realized that every Jew had their own story. It is lucky that Annes story survived. But what about all the other stories. If i was Anne I would have freaked out every night. Anne story taught me to be thankfull for what I have. think of allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the people that died. |
