Hostages in Vittel: The Rodi Glass Collection

Share

Rodi Waterman Glass was born in the Netherlands. In 2009, she donated some of her family’s papers and photographs to the Museum. At our 20th anniversary event in Chicago in 2013, she kindly gave us additional materials. Together these items document her family’s unusual experiences during the Holocaust. Because Rodi’s mother had British citizenship, the family was not deported to a camp in Poland or Germany like most other Dutch Jews but was sent instead to Vittel in France, where the Nazis held them in the hopes of exchanging them for German prisoners of war.
