UNITED STATES HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL MUSEUM ALARMED BY VANDALISM AT NEW ENGLAND HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL
WASHINGTON, DC – The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is deeply alarmed by the vandalism at New England Holocaust Memorial in Boston. This act is an egregious affront to Holocaust memory and Holocaust survivors as well as American society.
“Vandalizing a Holocaust memorial is always an outrageous act but in the aftermath of the violence in Charlottesville, this should serve as another urgent warning that antisemitism and racism remain dangerous forces in society,” said Museum Director, Sara J. Bloomfield. “We call on all American citizens and leaders to confront hate and promote American values of freedom and human dignity.”
A living memorial to the Holocaust, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum inspires leaders and citizens worldwide to confront hate, prevent genocide, and promote human dignity. Its far-reaching educational programs and global impact are made possible by generous donors. For more information, visit ushmm.org.
