Statement on Hajj Amin al-Husayni

WASHINGTON, DC—Hajj Amin al-Husayni, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem during World War II, was an antisemite and willing Nazi collaborator. While he was actively supportive of Nazi Germany's efforts to annihilate world Jewry—he sought to inspire Muslim men to serve in Axis military and auxiliary units and advocated the murder of Jews—the "Final Solution" would have occurred with or without his complicity.
