The Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies, the Wiener Library for the Study of the Holocaust & Genocide, and the Arolsen Archives, formerly the International Tracing Service (ITS), in Bad Arolsen are working in partnership to produce a series of primary source supplements based on original documents from the ITS archive. Intended for use in undergraduate classrooms, each presents a different theme important to the study of the Holocaust. An overview essay authored by an expert in the field introduces each topic, which is illustrated by relevant ITS documentation and photos from the Wiener Library and the Museum’s collections. Prompts for additional study and suggestions for further reading have also been included. The partners aim to make the unique holdings of the ITS collections more widely accessible and to draw undergraduate students' attention to their research potential.

ITS Primary Source Supplements have been designed for optimum use on iPad or tablet (but can also be printed, as needed) and are available for free download on all three partners’ websites. Use the links below to download the first two in the series. The next to be released will focus on the Nazi persecution of Roma and Sinti.

We appreciate any feedback and insights you might have after using the supplements, both from the perspective of university instructor and student user, and are grateful if you will agree to provide your contact information for our follow-up.

This project is made possible with the generous support of the Manya Friedman Memorial Fund; Edie and David Blitzstein in memory of Kurt and Thea Sonnenmark; and the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.
